Parking Lots

In addition to these garages, the City operates several parking lots, which have a total of 1,122 parking spaces. Some of the lots included are located at Lewis Street, Morris Street, Smith Street and the Municipal lot, which is next to the Municipal Auditorium and across from the Charleston Town Centre Mall.

The Parking System is responsible for the installation and maintenance of the 1,400 meters interspersed throughout the business district, including downtown Charleston, the West Side and East End of Charleston, as part of the infrastructure to facilitate access to local merchants. By using meters to set time limits, the number of motorists who can have access to local attractions and businesses is increased.

Residental Parking Permits can be obtained at 915 Quarrier St. Residential permits are valid from January 1 until December 31 and must be renewed annually.
